ARNO RISTORANTE EXHIBITION

The goal was to create two mannequins as a display piece in Arno Ristorante for a special dinner. Since Arno is nestled between the theater and garment districts, two mannequins were created to pay homage to the restaurant's location.

The first mannequin titled "Homage to Broadway" was inspired by Season 6 of Project Runways paper challenge. The location of the restaurant within Manhattans theater district inspired a playful, yet dramatic outfit made entirely out of actual playbills from Broadway. The corset contains a basket weaved playbill pattern which is accompanied by a dress with a train attached to it to add to the dramatic effect. The bright yellow and black color palette of the playbill helps make this mannequin stand out like the star she is.

The second mannequin titled "Homage to Fashion Ave" was inspired by the displays at Fashion Night Out and the location of the restaurant within the flourishing fashion district. The outfit was made from actual elements used in the fashion industry. Her top is made from 200yards of high-quality string which is threaded into the large sewing needle that she is holding, suggesting that she is actually sewing the outfit on her. Continuing with the fashion element theme, the skirt is made from 450 large dark brown buttons. Completing the look is her hair which is styled in a bun to represent a pin cushion which has actual sewing needles extruding from it and a zipper necklace. The color palette was made to match the colors used in the playbill garment.
