CMOM EXHIBITION

Working with the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), we transformed the lobby at Fashion Institute of Technology into a theater-themed exhibit which will teach children about the different aspects of theater.

The concept was behind the curtain, lighting, props, and scenery come together to portray a theatrical story. Lighting dramatizes the props and scenery in order to communicate a certain mood. At the same time, scenery and props create depth and presence on stage. This enables the audience to better understand the scene. The arcade-based prop machine allows viewers to mechanically control all of these aspects and put on their own shows. Props are attached to metal control rods which allow the viewer to reposition or remove certain props throughout the space of the stage. Background graphics can be removed and replaced with other scenes to suit the theme. Finally, the viewer has total control over the brightness as well as the color tint of the scene.
